The primary motive for launching this tournament of Cricket Australia is to keep its emerging and young players active and regularly playing cricket games even during the off-season. To note, the Top End T20 Series is organized by Cricket 365 so that the domestic and young Australian cricketers can improve their game. Northern Territory Cricket is backing the Top End T20 Series. The third season of this domestic cricket tournament will be played in Darwin.
This tournament will last for ten days and a total of 30 matches will be played this season. On average, every day three matches will be played in the Top End T20 Series 2024. The entire tournament will be played in five venues. The number of matches has increased after the expansion of teams participating in this tournament. This year a total of nine teams are participating, including seven from Australia. Teams that are participating in this tournament are Melbourne Renegades Academy, Adelaide Strikers Academy, Melbourne Stars Academy, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory Strike, Tasmania, Perth Scorchers Academy, the Bangladesh A, and Pakistan Shaheens.
During the league matches, each team will play six games. The top four teams in the points table will be qualified for the semi-finals. The winners of the first and second semi-finals will be advanced to the final match that is scheduled to take place on August 18, 2024. The opening encounter of the season is between Perth Scorchers Academy and Northern Territory Strike. Speaking of Pakistan Shaheen and Bangladesh A’s squads, these teams have a few international players like Mohammad Haris, Abdul Faseeh, Usman Khan, Shamim Hossain, Jishan Alam, and Sahibzada Farman.
Undoubtedly, the focus will be on the two overseas teams who also emerged victorious in the previous two seasons of the Top End T20 Series. The Australian teams will also give a stiff fight in a bid to win the tournament. Pakistan Shaheen squad lineup is Mohammad Haris, Arafat Minhas, Abdul Faseeh, Arif Yaqoob, Faisal Akram, Jahandad Khan, Haseebullah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Imran Jr, Mubasir Khan, Sahibzada Farhan, Omair Bin Yousuf, Usman Khan, and Tayyab Tahir.
The second overseas team in the tournament is Bangladesh A and its squad lineup is Jishan Alam, Mahfuzur Rahman, Sheikh Paevez Jibon, Shamim Hossain, Akbar Ali, Parvez Hossain Emon, Rakibul Hasan, Abu Hider, Ripon Mondon, Maruf Mridha, Mukidul Islam, Ariful Islam, and Wasi Siddiquee.
